Portuguese Parliament approves gay marriage

Portugal's Parliament approved yesterday the bill authorizing marriage between same-sex legislation now to be ratified by President Luso, Anibal Cavaco Silva, which does not recognize the right of adoption. The initiative was approved with the support of the Socialist Party (PS), the Communist Party of Portugal (PCP), the Left Bloc (BE) and the Greens, despite voting against conservative formations. There were some surprises during the voting process: six legislators of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) abstained and two PS deputies opposed independence.
The Civil Code Act removes the term "opposite sex" in the definition of marriage, which will be collected as "a contract between two persons claiming to be a family through the full communion of life" from the moment the bill is enacted by the president.
Cavaco Silva, has been shown against gay marriage, could exercise their veto power and refusing to sign the document. Following the adoption of the text, the president did not want to show respect. The modificacones made to the Act establishing the impossibility of the same sex to engage in the adoption, in all its forms, TSF radio reported.
